WOMEN OF THE WATER

WoW2.jpg

Ana Elisa Sotelo Van Oordt and Renate Rain invite you to participate in the ongoing documentary project that explores liberty and liberation in women.

We invite you to swim nude in the cold water of the Puget Sound as a powerful and empowering experience to freely express yourself and flow with nature.

Ana is a documentary photographer and producer who believes that for too long the sea has been portrayed as predominantly male dominated.  This award winning project, WOMEN OF THE WATER, began at the worlds end in Puerto Natales, Chile, and for the first time is leaving South America and making it’s way to the Salish Sea!

In this woman only photoshoot you will be expected to sign a photo release and swim 65 feet into the sea wearing only your birthday suit.  We expect to be in the water approximately 20 minutes and want to mention that 65 feet is about the length of your average semi-truck.

You will be swimming at your own risk, so please be confident in your swimming, treading water and/or floating abilities and keep in mind that the water is about 55 degrees right now.  There will be paddle boarders on the water for support and safety.

When you arrive, we will connect on the beach and learn what else is expected from us.  Please know that this will be an incredible experience, and trust the process.

When: Saturday morning, August 26th.  7:00 AM

Where: Sunnyside Beach Park, Steilacoom, WA

Note: This beach is actually closed for some construction and we are there by special permission.  The beach and parking will be locked up- we will be let in by a town official and it will be locked during our photoshoot.  It is imperative that you be ON TIME.  We must also be completely cleared out by 9:00.  Thank you for your cooperation

What to wear?  Please come prepared; nude under a dry robe or house robe.  Bring a bag with your towel and warm, easy to put on clothing (sweats are easy) for after the swim.  I would suggest a thermos of hot tea or coffee as well.  I would not suggest eating a large breakfast before this swim.

ALSO- Thursday evening Ana and Renate will be going LIVE in the Women of the Water FB group at 7PM to give a brief talk on the project and answer questions.  Please make sure you are in that group, and also that you have RSVP’d on the EVENT page (separate).  This is important so that we are sure to have an accurate number of paddle boarders.

RAINBOWS

Cardumen+de+Colores.jpg

Ana Elisa Sotelo Van Oordt and Renate Rain invite you to participate in the ongoing documentary project RAINBOW.  Rainbows are symbols of hope and of better times to come. In this series of portraits groups of women convene at sea to embody the spirit of the rainbow in times of crisis. When partaking in these rainbows women connect with each other, with nature and become active symbols of hope, unity and community.

As many of you know, Renate is the founder of the Puget Sound Plungers, and for this photoshoot, Ana is inviting

the Puget Sound Plungers to participate and for the first time she is including men!

Together we invite you to wear black leggings and a brightly colored t-shirt or rash guard AND a beanie, this is a special request, as Ana has been viewing photos of the Puget Sound Plungers and noticed that all winter we wear our beanies!

In this photoshoot you will be expected to sign a photo release and either cold plunge, swim, or pose on the beach- Ana will determine that on the morning of the photoshoot!

You will, as always,  be entering the water at your own risk, so please be mindful of that, and each other.

When you arrive, we will connect on the beach and learn what else is expected from us from Ana.  Please know that this will be an incredible experience, and trust the process. These photos will be a treasured keep-sake from the day!

When: Sunday morning, August 27th.  7:00 AM

Where: Own Beach, Tacoma

Please plan to arrive before time and be parked and on the beach by 7:00 AM.

Be dressed and ready to go!  Thank you!  We are very excited!
